Ketucky Unarmed Security Guard

At this time, there are no license requirements for an unarmed security guard in the state of Kentucky. However; this can vary as individual cities and counties can have their own regulations. Any questions on this can be answered by calling or emailing the local County Clerk’s office. In general, these requirements are standard across the state:

  • must be at least 18 years of age
  • must have a high school diploma or GED
  • must NOT have any felony convictions
  • must NOT have been convicted of a crime involving the illegal use of weapons

Other requirements that are helpful include having a valid Kentucky driver’s license, good communications skills, and to be in good physical conditions.

At the present time, there is also no requirements for an armed security guard in the state. An applicant will need to contact the local City Clerk’s office for specific requirements for the city or county. In general, these are the standard requirements:

  • applicant must be at least 21 years of age
  • must have a high school diploma or GED
  • must NOT have any felony convictions
  • must NOT have been convicted of a crime involving the illegal use of weapons
  • must have a state driver’s license

must be stable mentally
